I’m a librarian who likes geeky stuff. Open data, eLearning and UX please me.

I’m very creative. I knit daily, spin my own yarn and weave a bit too. I also make my own silver jewellery and dabble with 3D printing.

I love singing, especially Acapella multi part harmony.

I live on unceded Whadjuk Noongar land and recognise their enduring connection to it.

I’m a fan of intersectionality, evidence based science/medicine and doing whatever we can to save the planet.

I’m also mentally planning a waistcoat I want to knit for my dad. I think I’ll probably make my own pattern for it, but I don’t think it will work with the yarn I was planning to use. More pondering required.

I’m actually finishing a knitting project I started years ago and left to hibernate. This is rare! It’s a lace weight cardigan in a lovely dark teal yarn and I just have one sleeve to finish. I hate knitting sleeves. 😜

Okay, I'm only 17 pages into @craigmaloney's The Mediocre Programmer and I'm already convinced it's something that everyone in any specialist field, programmer or not, ought to read. Well-written, warm, compassionate and thoughtful, and full of sensible advice. Oh, and it's free & libre, and available in multiple formats.

I’m feeling anxious and sound sensitive, so I’m sitting on the outside couch, snuggling in my rainbow hand knit cardigan and listening to the rain. I’ve missed the rain.

We get out of lockdown at 6pm. Woohoo. Should plan something fun for the weekend.

Bread pic

Sourdough fresh out of the oven. One with seeds, the other coloured blue and green with the help of the 3yo.

The cake worked really well. Now I’ve got a creamy sausage stew in the oven, then I’ll bake two loaves of sourdough I have rising.

I’m mashing up recipes today. I’m trying a carrot, zucchini and apple cake with leftover starter. The 3yo is an enthusiastic helper. I’m making one for us and one for the neighbor who is kind enough to share her eggs. I hope they come out well.

So.. unexpected five day lockdown. I was at the shops when I heard about it. Half an hour later they were mobbed.

I’m glad this is being taken seriously. I think lots of locals disagree with me.

A good nights sleep is like a revelation! I’m ready to take on the world today (or at least wrangle kids and go grocery shopping which is more likely).

Hello fediverse! I’m new here. Please be nice. 🙂

My name is Molly, I work in a library and knit a lot. I love coffee, enjoy experimental baking and usually don’t get enough sleep.

I’m looking forward to finding some people to follow and getting a feel for this space.
