I am once again asking for people to stop representing languages with national flags

alcohol

Molly Rose Scarf Weather

It’s an amber ale with oranges, cinnamon and ginger infused. The orange rind is a bit more forward than the rest but not in a bad way. Not as “warming” as I expected, nice but almost a Spring rather than Autumn beer.

December this year marks 55 years since we have given a Prime Minister to the ocean. This is surely the reason for the difficulties of the last few years.

Whoever is elected next weekend should commit to immediately getting into the sea to save us.

In Istanbul, Turkey, they made a statue in honor of the famous stray cat,Tombili, who sat in this position and watched people as they passed by.

Excited to discover that our University Librarian will be doing a reading of Family Tree to some visiting childcare kids in the library for National Simultaneous Storytime.

cryptocurrencies

Gee it's almost as if crypto currencies are a total scam 🤔

Love how this is being pitched as "Evil hedge fund conspiracy" instead of "obvious flaw in the design of our algorithmic ponzi scheme".

My name's Brandon. I'm currently an #MLIS student (or at least I will be for another week, when I graduate), and I hope to become a full-fledged #librarian soon. I was diagnosed with autism two years ago, and as I try to move into a library career, I hope to advocate for #autistic and neurodiverse voices within the profession.

Outside of LIS, I'm a human to an incredibly spoiled Japanese Chin, as well as a Trekkie and a Whovian. I also have a lot of other special interests.

US book banning and employment law

“The day my bum went psycho” was the most popular book in Australia for kids in this age group when I was a Children’s Services librarian. They idea that someone could legally be fired from their teaching job for reading it to kids is incomprehensible.

I’m really having a hard time understanding anything about this. I’ve read plenty of books like this to kids in the library. They love it.

python help

What's a nice, small in-memory cache? User submits some text, I do some relatively expensive work on it, and want to cache the results for the lifetime of the session, on the order of a few minutes. Super low volume, and the less I have to think about it the better.

An LCA friend of mine has her massive knitted hanging piece on display at the SLV (they’ve agreed to preserve it for her). I suggest you all go and see it. It’s a stunning piece with fully programmed lights and it was knitted with a hacked knitting machine. slv.vic.gov.au/whats-on/handma

Enterprising students bring things like electric kettles and even coffee makers to the library but... this semester apparently someone brought a hot plate to the music and media watching room and fried fish?????
